Frequently Asked Questions

I only offer face to face lessons in your home as I do not have the facility to have pupils in my own home.

Travel costs are built into the lesson fee, and are not additional.

If there is illness in your household, I prefer to offer online lessons via Skype or Zoom. If your child is not well enough to attend school but is well enough for their music lesson you must inform me and their lesson will automatically take place online.

For children it would be helpful for an adult to be in the room for the entire duration of the online lesson to help with technical difficulties and associated problems.

Yes. I cannot provide instruments.

I’m very happy to advise on instrument purchase or rental.

If you don’t already have an instrument, please do ask for advice – not all instruments for sale (either new or second hand) are fit for purpose.

For all pupils aged 16 or under, a responsible adult must be at home for the entire duration of the lesson.

Pupils must be fully dressed, appropriately for the lesson i.e. no swimwear.

Pupils must ensure they have their instrument, music, a notebook and pencil ready for the lesson.

Cancellations must be made with 24 hours notice.

With sufficient notice the lesson can be taken at an alternative mutually suitable time. It may be necessary for these lessons to be conducted online as schedules allow.

Cancellations made within less than 24 hours will not be made up or reimbursed. Tuition is based on enrolment, not attendance.

If for any reason I as the teacher have to cancel I will do my best to offer an alternative time.  If this is not possible, those lessons will be credited.
